Meet Our Physicians

R. Charles Howells, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. R. Charles Howells, II is originally from Bedford County. He graduated from Juniata College, in Huntingdon, PA, Summa Cum Laude and attended West Virginia School of Medicine, graduating in 1996. Dr. Howells completed a General Surgical Internship at WVU in 1997 and his residency was done at the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at WVU from 1997 -2001. He came back to Altoona to start his practice upon the completion of his residency. His interests in Otolaryngology include: Pediatric ENT problems, Sinus and Nasal Surgery, and Salivary Gland Surgery. Outside of ENT Associates, Dr. Howells likes to spend time outdoors, mountain biking, skiing, and hiking with his Labradors. He also enjoys spending time with his family – wife Stephanie and three sons: Joshua and Nathan college students, and Christopher who is a student at Hollidaysburg Area School District.

Robert J. Caughey, M.D.

Dr. Robert J. Caughey is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania He attended undergraduate school at the University of Virginia and graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Caughey’s interests include Pediatrics and Sinus. Outside of medicine, Dr. Caughey’s interests include Ice Hockey, Running, and Pittsburgh sports. Dr. Caughey is married and has three children, Naomi, Lydia, and Charlie.

Amy Nedostup, Au.D, CCC-A

Director of Audiology, Board Certified Audiologist

Dr. Amy Nedostup has been helping individuals hear better and find tinnitus relief for over 20 years. In June 2013, Dr. Nedostup joined the staff of ENT Associates of Central Pennsylvania and brought to the group a new tier of services that now includes comprehensive audiology services provided and managed by Dr. Nedostup.
Dr. Nedostup received her Doctorate of Audiology degree at Salus University, Master of Education degree at James Madison University, and Bachelor of Science degree at The Ohio State University. She is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, along with fitting and verification of amplification for both children and adults. Additionally, she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of tinnitus and vestibular disorders because of her research with the US Army and clinical work experience.
Dr. Nedostup is a Board Certified Audiologist. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Nedostup is a native of Canfield, Ohio. She currently resides in Hollidaysburg with her family. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, gardening, traveling, hiking, and camping.

Rachel Wahl, Au.D, CCC-A

Board Certified Audiologist

Dr. Rachel Wahl joined the staff of ENT Associates of Central Pennsylvania in 2017.
Dr. Wahl received her Doctorate of Audiology degree and Bachelor of Science degree at Bloomsburg University. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, along with fitting and verification of amplification for both children and adults. She additionally specializes in vestibular evaluations and treatment and has a special interest in tinnitus treatment.
Dr. Wahl is a Board Certified Audiologist. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Wahl is a native of Saint Marys and currently resides in Altoona with her husband. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.

Ashtyn Whyte, Au.D, CCC-A

Board Certified Audiologist

Dr. Ashtyn Whyte joined the staff of ENT Associates of Central Pennsylvania in 2020.
Dr. Whyte received her Doctorate of Audiology degree and Bachelor of Science degree at West Virginia University. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, along with fitting and verification of amplification for both children and adults. She additionally specializes in vestibular evaluations and treatment.
Dr. Whyte is a Board Certified Audiologist. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Whyte is a native of Ripley, West Virginia and now resides in Hollidaysburg. She enjoys reading, horseback riding, being outdoors, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog.

Jennifer Vallade C-AA, HIS

Certified Audiology Assistant, Hearing Instrument Specialist

Ms. Jennifer Vallade joined the staff of ENT Associates of Central Pennsylvania in 2013.
Ms. Vallade received her Bachelor of Science degree at California University of Pennsylvania and an Audiologist’s Assistant certificate at Nova Southeastern University. She specializes in fitting and verification of amplification.
Ms. Vallade is a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist and a registered Audiology Assistant within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She is one of the first in the nation to become a Certified Audiology Assistant with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and an Audiology Technician Affiliate with the American Academy of Audiology
Ms. Vallade currently resides in Bellwood. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family, friends, and dog.
